Naty and I met at 3:30 with plans to play badminton at the park, but it was raining heavily. We considered going to the gym to play but realized that our shoes would've had us slipping all over the court. I remembered that last time Naty asked me about good pizza places around Tallahassee, so I suggested that we grab some pizza. We went to Gaines Street Pies and split a medium barbeque chicken pizza. I wasn't planning to eat my entire half, but Naty challenged me to an eating competition. So you know, I had no choice but to do it. I lost anyway because she ate impressively fast.
I really enjoy our conversations because Naty is such a fast learner. We're able to talk about many things and the conversation always flows naturally, without me having to really think about what to say next. It also really helps that when she can't understand something or figure out how to say something in English, I can clarify it for her in French. My favorite topics this time were when we talked about our love lives, what we look for in a significant other, and why some people can't help but express themselves through aggression.

We were finally able to play badminton today, despite all the wind. After our respective classes around 3:30, we went to Cascades park and walked around for a little before finding a spot. I already knew that Naty was competitive, but I didn't think that her drive to win would elevate her from a beginner level to scoring against me within half an hour! Afterward we went to Burrito Boarder, because after running around in the sun we deserved some hearty food, right? Over three tacos and a burrito, we talked about how our classes were going and our plans for spring break. We also talked about homelessness in the U.S. and in Burkina Faso, and what - if anything - could be done about it. When we finished our food, I pulled out the worksheets I prepared earlier for our tutoring session.
