On Monday, February
20th I met up with my child tutee Kavira from 4:30-5:30 at her
house. We went outside as usual, and met up with the other neighborhood kids. I
decided to teach them the days of the week. I wrote down the words on a piece
of paper and had them repeat after me. Once they could pronounce the words, I
told them that today was Monday, and tomorrow was Tuesday, and so on. In
addition, I found a song online to help them learn the days of the week. It was
catchy, and seeing as how Kavira loves songs, I really think she enjoyed
learning this session. Because the kids were catching on so fast and were
really sweet, I let them play with my hair and braid it. They all love braiding
my hair, so I taught them the words hair, braid, straight, and long. In
addition, I reinforced their counting skills because I had them count how many
total braids they braided my hair into.
