Review, Bingo

Today Julia brought bingo printouts for them to review vocabulary that we had taught the kids. I went over numbers, and dates, while she filled the bingo cards out. Then we went through and played the game. It was hard on Mariam, she is the youngest and has trouble reading. Johari and Amidu did pretty well. But the game was more difficult than we anticipated. After we went through most of the words, we reviewed the difficult words and reviewed colors again, to see if they would still have trouble after the game last week.

Its definitely easier to communicate with the kids, their English is improving. Their receptive vocabulary is much larger than their productive vocabulary and they have trouble producing complete sentences. We need to come up with activities that help them practice making complete sentences and we need to make each activity a multilevel activity. Because Abu, is the oldest and knows the most, so most things are easy for him. Mariam is the youngest and has a really hard time. Sometimes Johari and Amidu can sound things out but Mariam is still uncomfortable with reading.
