On Monday, March 6 I met with my child tutee for two hours. This post details the first of those two hours.
For this lesson I continued to work on common verbs. I can tell the children's English has improved in the past few weeks. Before their responses were limited to one-word answers. They are now beginning to form short sentences. I had flashcards with different verbs on them. We reviewed them together, I asked the children to brainstorm about the verb. For example, "to swim" we discussed what swimming is and places to swim, a pool, the ocean, etc. I continued to ask questions to practice listening comprehension. Once we had finished reviewing each verb I ask about their favorite activities from these verbs. I was really pleased with their ability to use the verbs in a group discussion.
