On Monday February
13th, I met up with my child tutee Kavira at her house from
4:30-5:30. We decided to go outside again, and again all the neighborhood
children came over to also learn. Because there were so many children, I
decided to show them a video about the body parts. I chose to put on “Heads,
shoulders, knees, and toes” from a video I found on Youtube. The kids
absolutely loved this because it was interactive and catchy. I ended up playing
the video multiple times after many requests from the children. Simon was also
there, so to reinforce the body parts we all played “Simon Says” (which I thought
was perfect because his name is actually Simon). He told the kids to point to a
body part, and the kids caught on pretty quickly. This was also a great way to
get the students involved because it was super interactive and helped teach the
body parts because they had to point to the body part he said without having
the visual aid of the video. This was a really fun session and we agreed to
come back next week.
