Ansley CP #1
I met with my conversation partner at Starbucks from 6pm-7pm. He is from Kuwait. During our meeting we mainly discussed his involvement in Tallahassee. While here he has been involved with pick-up soccer teams and attended some of the women's soccer games. Though he has only been In the U.S. for 4 months he has been able to travel fairly extensively within the U.S. We also talked about where we traveled outside the U.S. He mentioned there was only one airport in Kuwait and they have direct flights from New York to Kuwait City. We compared some about our family structures. He has 8 siblings all of which still live near their parents. The family is quite large compared to mine, I have one sibling who is 18 years-old and on the edge of her seat to move out of my parent's house. The cultural differences in strength of family ties is also influenced by the fact Kuwait is much smaller than the U.S. He mentioned in Kuwait you can drive to any part within the country in one day. In contrast, in the U.S. you could drive all day and still be in Florida. In general, I believe we had a good introductory meeting. I look forward to the next.
