Topic/Skill: Speaking - Group 3B
Housekeeping was handled at the beginning of class. There are 7students in this class. They are currently preparing PowerPoint presentations which will form the basis of their in-class Planned Speech (5-min). The class is relaxed with an easy groove. When new vocabulary arose (impromptu, in this case) the instructor guided a class discussion that was intended to divine the meaning of the new term. After the discussion the instructor provided the proper definition. Most of the observation was done in the computer lab while the students were assembling their PPT presentations. All English, all the time. Students often initiated dialog with the instructor and other students. Each student received a great deal of individual attention. It must be a joy to work with a class this small!
