Joelle CO#2

The second class I observed after my Foundations class was Group 1A, Listening with Rebecca Turk. These students were more advanced than the Foundations class and understood some words and were able to speak somewhat clearly. Ms. Turk kept the class engaged by playing audio clips and having the students write the main ideas and key words of the sentences spoken in the audio clip into their notebooks. She then had some of the students come up and write the main ideas on the whiteboard and talked to the class about why the student's main ideas were right or were wrong. I really liked the way she spoke to the students, she often made jokes which made it light and fun, and was very encouraging to the students and got excited every time they got something correct.
She ended the lesson by asking the students one thing about their home countries and showed a picture of that thing to the class by pulling it up on the internet. I thought this small exercise was wonderful as it allowed the students to see and share each other's cultures.
