Jack Buck TS#1
I met with my tutee, P.J, at his house on Monday, January 16th. We went over an article in his Language Arts textbook, where I helped him with the definitions of some key words and some words he hadn't encountered before. After each page, we had a discussion about what exactly was happening. I was happy that P.J was engaged, offering his own opinions about the passage. We also discussed some of the differences between American, Chinese (based on the article), South Korean, and English cultures. I think in the future, I will read articles out loud first, and then allow P.J to read, so he can be exposed to a different accent, and also so he can focus on the content, rather than focusing on reading aloud.
