Kailon CO #1
My first classroom observation took place on January 18, 2017. I observed Ms. Stringer's grammar 3 class from 9:00 AM to 9:50 AM. First, i must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the environment and warm and inviting feeling that I got from the teacher. I could immediately tell that the teacher was very enthusiastic about teaching; and because of this, the students also felt comfortable interacting and speaking during the class. None of the students seemed hesitant about the work, and they all seemed to understand what they were being told. i also noticed that the teacher would sometimes act out, or "model", what she was trying to convey to the students. The teacher also used the method of "recasting" in order to correct the mistakes that some of the students made. I also observed that the teacher made the students do a "warm-up" exercise whenever they first entered the classroom. Today, the students mostly reviewed what they previously learned in order to prepare for their oral quiz that they have tomorrow. The teacher always gave excellent feedback and affirmation to her students. Overall, I enjoyed observing this class.
