Julia Smith TS #5

Today, February 2, I met with Dojun for the third time. In session last weekend he told me that it was New Year's day in Korea, and so I had a New Year's resolution activity for us to do. I first asked him if people made these types of resolutions in South Korea, and when he was hesitant I gave him an example. He then gave me similar examples of types of resolutions that people make in Korea, and told me about how because many people have to retire at 60 years old, they look for an additional skill or certification so that they can find another job after. I learned many things about South Korean culture, ranging from retirement to fried chicken, and I also told him the norms in America. I had an additional activity of creating a business, and he seemed to be very interested in business topics, which I will try to incorporate into our future sessions. During the lesson I taught the vocabulary words: strive, networking and hypothetical. I plan to bring these words into the next session to check comprehension and retention.
