Aileen TS#7
Yesterday afternoon I continued my tutoring session with my child tutee. Generally there are 5 children but one of them was sick yesterday but I took it upon myself to continue. I started off looking through some of the books that they had shown me in the previous session and asked them which one they would be interested in. The first book we read followed the pattern of the alphabet along with "change". For example the format would be "Today's seed is tomorrow's apple" in which the first letter of the main word would be highlighted. I parsed it up by having the children repeat after me so that they could follow along during the first read through. For the second I had the tutee that I was assigned to try and read the story for me. I noticed that he was struggling particularly with reading "is for" but after seeing the pattern for so many pages and hearing my pronunciation he improved significantly with his pronunciation. I finished up this first half of the session by drawing up the "changes" from each page of the story as an additional visual aid for comprehension.
