Joelle TS#4

On Friday I met with my child tutee for the first time. I first went to the house at around 2:30pm, and Pasos (my tutee) was not home. The mother communicated to me that he wouldn't be home until 3:40, as he was in school. So I came back at around 4pm to start the session.
Pasos was the eldest of the children in the house, and knew the most material. I had prepared a document containing basic vocabulary and pictures to go with the vocabulary as I had thought Pasos would not know the information. He actually knew almost all of the material! He could also read whole paragraphs and understand the meanings of most words. The only thing he really needed to work on was his pronunciation of words such as "Favorite" and "Brother" but other than that he was able to read and speak clearly.
As I was tutoring Pasos, his family members gathered around and started learning the material with him. I felt that the lesson not only benefitted him, but also his family as they were reading the paragraphs aloud and learning the names of the colors I had provided.
