Kailon TS #8
On Wednesday I met with my adult tutee Larissa again. This time, we discussed pronunciation. In particular, I noticed that Larissa struggled to distinguish using short vowels from long vowels. So, I briefly went over examples of each vowel (including "y") and gave words that were an example of each. Next, I asked my tutee to come up with her own examples of each of the short and long vowels. Overall, it was just a matter of improving and refining her pronunciation. Also, pronunciation is used to denote the meaning behind a specific words. For example, pronunciation helps to differentiate live with a short "i" from live with a long "i". Wednesday's session was rather successful. I feel confident that Larissa can now distinguish between short and long vowels.
