Joelle TS#6

I met with Mohammad and went over his work for composition and reading for an hour. His homework for writing was about various topics, and responses to these topics generally included a partner so I helped him by being the recipient and responding to the questions he asked through text. He would ask me questions from the workbook based on the reading topic and I would answer it by writing down an example answer that meets the criteria of the question. I also gave him other answers, as to show him the different styles of writing and how each style can be formal, informal, or in between.
For reading I made him read a passage from his work book and ask me questions about the words in the passage he didn't understand, or contextual sentences that didn't match up with he already knew. He would ask me questions such as "What is oregano....Does it mean, 'Organ'?" and I would tell him that it is a type of seasoning, which was discussed earlier in the passage.
We also went over the questions the workbook asked him about the passage. I would listen to his answer to the question, and I would give him other answers that would work, and why some of the questions were specifically contextual and why some were just about general American functions and life-styles.
